Yet Another Overclocking Page - Sorta.

The purpose of this page is not to teach people how to overclock - everyone and their dog has a page like that. Rather, this page's purpose is to serve as an archive and a reference for people wishing to overclock, to see how high they can safely take their CPU before it starts smoking and catching fire.

On this page, you'll find a link where you can share your overclocking experience with others, and a link where you can search the database for other people who have been successfully able to overclock CPUs similar to the one you own.

Notice this page is ad-free. I intend to keep it that way, unless like a zillion people start coming here and I feel I can somehow get rich off this - er, I mean, I feel I need the money to pay for a better server for this page. I sincerely doubt you'll ever see an ad on this page. :)

The author of this page, though he has overclocked every CPU he owns, in no way endorses any of the activities that are discussed on this page. Should you decide to overclock your CPU, and should your CPU explode and cause your house to burn down and your dog to run away, I am in no way responsible! That having been said, good luck, if you do decide to overclock your CPU.

There are now entries in the overclocking database!

Update: 10/25/99: Added more PIII chips, Cyrix MII 433, 400, 105 MHz bus speed.

Update: 6/13/99: Added K6-3 500, K6-2 475, PIII 450, 500, 550, Celeron 466.

Update: 3/15/99: Added K6-3 400 and 450, K6-2 450, Celeron 433, and Cyrix MII 366.

Update: 11/2/98: Added IDT Winchip 180, 200, 225, 240 Processors by popular demand.

Update: 10/25/98: Added K6-2 380, 400 Processors.

Update: 9/17/98: Added Celeron 300A Processor.

Update: 8/11/98: Reports from a user about getting a K6-2 300 to POST at 416 MHz and actually boot to DOS at 405 MHz. Still not stable, but perhaps someone out there will get lucky and get a K6-2 to run reliably at 400+ MHz.

Update: 7/28/98: Added a user-submitted links page, where you can add your own link to an overclocking site you may have found helpful. Please try not to abuse this feature. :)

Update: 7/26/98: The machine this page runs on was upgraded today (rather painlessly) to a K6-2 266 running at 300MHz. Now to get some PC-100 SDRAM...

Update: 7/25/98: The site will be going down later in the day for a processor/motherboard swap. It will be going from a P5-233 MMX to a K6-2 266 on an FIC VA-503+ board, if all goes well.

Update: 7/21/98: Minor cosmetic and HTML updates to the site; links now open in the main window and not the frame on the right like they used to. I'm sure others were as annoyed by that as I was.

Update: 7/15/98 (PM): Interesting news from a visitor:

If you've got a Celeron to add to the overclock list, perhaps make a note of the S-number if you happen to know it in the comment section.

Please be advised, this page is still under construction, though all the important stuff does work.
